Management at Sony Ericsson intends to enter into a contract with a Taiwanese OEM- manufacturers of electronics, Arima Communications and Chi Mei Communication Systems (CMCS) with respect to the production of the recently announced a series of budget mobile phones. Under the terms of the contract, the total supply of units for the year 2008 will be about 15-18 million units.
The company will release Arima T270, T280, and R300 Radio, while the CMCS will produce R306 Radio. Representatives from Sony Ericsson said that the T270 and T280 will be available in the first quarter of this year, model R300 in the second quarter and R306 - in the third.
In 2008, apart from the fourth series, which includes phones T270, 280, R300 and R306, Sony Ericsson is to launch production of 5, and 6- line cost devices. Production of one or two models will Arima, the remaining units will be releasing CMCS. According to recent studies, in 2007, Sony Ericsson has sold a total of about 8.5 million mobile phones created by Taiwanese OEM- companies.
